We love natural fibers for knitting

  • Sheep's wool is a natural fiber that grows directly from the skin of sheep. Its crimped structure helps trap air for warmth and can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture. Wool is also renewable, making it a sustainable choice.

  • After shearing, the wool is cleaned to remove dirt and grease, then carded to straighten the fibers. The carded wool is spun into yarn by twisting the fibers together, creating a strong thread that can be dyed to different colors.

  • Knitting uses needles to loop stitches of yarn into fabric. Different stitches create different patterns, and the elastic nature of wool yarn makes it easy to shape. Knitted items like sweaters and scarves are warm and comfortable.

A special christmas

The stars on the sleeves of the sweater are inspired by the Christmas stars that are hung in hospitals and nursing homes across Norway each year as part of Kreftforeningens Christmas Campaign. They are there to remind patients and their loved ones that they are not alone, and that many people are thinking of them.

The funds raised through the Christmas Campaign go towards vital cancer research that can help make it possible for more people to come home for Christmas, New Year, and all the other days of the year. The Christmas Campaign was started in 2012 and will be held for the fifteenth time in 2026. Since it began, the campaign has contributed more than NOK 350 million to vital cancer research.

From a knitted star to a Christmas star. If you would like to and are able to, the stars you embroider on the sleeves can be accompanied by a Christmas star at a hospital or nursing home. Kreftforeningen will hang a star at the location of your choice as a visible sign that someone is thinking of those who have to spend Christmas in the hospital.
